With a majority of businesses being shut down due to COVID-19 many New Jersey residents have lost their jobs. On April, 9th, 2020 6.6 million Americans filed for unemployment adding to over 10 million that have already applied for unemployment insurance amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of businesses still considered essential still remain open including restaurants, grocery stores, and hotels however some of them have cut a majority of their staffs. In this video we talked to Michael Schubert, 19-year-old Busboy at B2 Bistro in Point Pleasant, NJ, Jessica Erdelyi, 20-year-old Front Desk Receptionist at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lakewood, NJ, and Gary Erdelyi Sr., 50-year-old Pipeline Welder at Kinder Morgan in Carteret, NJ. All of these workers have been temporarily laid off due to COVID-19 in some way shape or form and they represent a small portion of nearly 20 million Americans.
